Grief

I cannot speak more highly of the help Renee has given me and my husband. She was the one person who helped us get through the devastating loss of both our beloved Anna Marie who was a rescue dog and passed away from cancer, as well as my sweet horse, Raji. Our hearts were absolutely broken.  Renee was always there for us when we needed her most.
We called on her again just recently to help us with end of life planning for our rescue dog Bubu who is from Romania. Thank goodness she is now available to help others. She knows how important these animals are to their families and is willing to help through the grieving process.

Assessing Quality of Life

After giving someone some quality of life scales and going through them with her I followed up to see if it was helpful. Her response:  "They are fabulous and I will get to use them over the next 13 months. - the girls aren’t at that stage yet, but they both have bad days and good. One cat, she’d 19 keeps bouncing back. It’s a rollercoaster."

Euthanasia

When a colleague was preparing to say goodbye to her cat, I suggested that she bring the cat’s littermate to the appointment so he could understand what was happening. She hadn’t considered it before, but later she told me how grateful she was for that advice. She said it brought comfort — not only to her but also to her surviving cat, who seemed calmer and more at peace afterward. Now, she shares that same guidance with others who face the painful decision of saying goodbye.

Help with hospice cat daily life activities

My neighbor needed to give his cat subcutaneous fluids for kidney disease but struggled to do it on his own, even after a lesson at the vet’s office. I went over every other day for several weeks to help and guide him until he felt confident and comfortable caring for his cat by himself until the time came to say goodbye.

Help with cat daily life activities

Another neighbor was struggling with caring for her cat and I showed her how to make daily living actitivies more manageable. She said, "My son passed and I inherited Hazel, his cat. Hazel was a little aggressive and did not like the vet. She always had to be drugged prior to an appointment . This in itself was challenging to me and not good for Hazel. Renee taught me how to cut and maintain Hazel’s nails and also suggested other ways to maintain healthy habits for her. She was always willing to help me out there when I needed."
